**Lootboxes are ERC-1155 NFT-s that can be purchased or earned on PlaysRare.** They contain various rewards, such as Tokens and NFTs. Once opened, the Lootbox is burned, and the contents are revealed.

Lootboxes on PlaysRare are ERC-1155 NFTs that players can purchase, win in Discord promos, or earn through gameplay. These Lootboxes are filled with various rewards, including Tokens and unique NFTs. Upon opening a Lootbox, it is burned, permanently removing it from circulation. The contents of the Lootbox are then revealed, providing players with their earned rewards. By opening Lootboxes you can earn all the Tokens and NFTs needed to start your gaming journey in the Plays Ecosystem.

**There will be a total of 46,000 Lootboxes at $3.99 each. Each Lootbox drops 3 rewards at once. The statistical value of each lootbox is $7.75. Therefore the value of a Lootbox is always higher than $3.99.**

## Lootbox Design Document

Lootboxes in Web3 offer an excellent method for distributing value, especially in ecosystems that operate with multiple assets simultaneously. Unlike traditional Web2 gaming, Web3 allows users to resell lootbox rewards if they're unhappy with the outcome, solving one of the major issues associated with lootboxes in the Web2 gaming space.

In Web3 lootboxes, there's a clear trade-off between the lootbox price and the gas fees required to open them. If the price is set too low, users may need to open multiple lootboxes at once, increasing the overall gas costs. On the other hand, setting the price too high could deter users from purchasing them. Striking the right balance—where the price is both gas-efficient and affordable—enables users to maximize the benefits of Web3 lootboxes. **To address this, we decided to include three rewards in each lootbox.**

Estimating the value of a Web3 lootbox is challenging since each asset has its own market price, and those prices can fluctuate rapidly. To address this, we based our lootbox value calculations on certain [assumptions about the short-term price performance of the ecosystem's assets](#average-rewards). While these prices can change at any moment, they provide a baseline for determining lootbox value. **We then applied a discount of approximately 50% to this baseline to establish a reasonable pricing model for the lootboxes.**
